Road plates approved for highways use
Any item, such as a road plate, that is to be ’…. used by traffic on the public highway must have sufficient frictionable material to allow vehicles or persons to traverse and or brake/accelerate on it without the risk of slipping or skidding.’ Health and Safety regulations regarding road plates, like all of the other equipment used in street works, means that contractors must ensure the road plates they use are fit for purpose to reduce their liability. Local authorities are on the look out for ways of raising fines and the use of sub standard road plates is not an option.
Road plate coverings and textures
That is why all of our road plates and checker plates (also known as durbar plates or foot plates) have either a resin and aggregate anti skid covering or a surface that is ridged or textured in such a way as to allow the safe crossing of the road plates.
Road plates and checker plates
They are constantly in service on footpaths, driveways, construction sites, roads and highways across the U.K.
