Ferrybridge Power Station – West Yorkshire
Sectors:
Using: 3m x 1.5m x 25mm – Steel C/W SALLY
In 2016 the power generator SSE has took its final investment decision to proceed with the Ferrybridge Multifuel 2 project in West Yorkshire, and we became involved in the construction phase early in 2017.
Some heavy kit was required on site, including the requirement to bring in a 500 tonne crawler crane.
Our client was charged with coming up with a semi permanent way of making safe access around 50 utility pits, to be covered with crushed concrete and trafficked by the extremely heavy plant.
They didn’t require anti-skid coating because they were going to be covered in aggregate. So 2 artic loads of 3.0m x 1.5m x 25mm smooth top plates were despatched. This gave them a decent thickness and panel size to work with and allowed them to place them side by side and double thickness if required.
We sent one of our 6×2 + LLC Hiab trucks to assist with the placing and generally move kit around the jobsite.
Ultimately, due to certain phases being delayed, the client opted to purchase them on a ‘buy back’ scheme.
